Body Tambura®
Sound you not only hear but feel
The sound of the Körpertambura has a luminous, almost ethereal quality, while at the same time feeling deeply grounding. Played intuitively, freely and from the heart, it creates a rich field of resonance that lends itself beautifully to both individual and group experiences.
Placed gently upon the body, its delicate vibrations can be felt as well as heard. Sound becomes a physical experience — inviting the body to soften, the mind to become quiet, and a deeper sense of presence and connection to emerge.
The Körpertambura® is an original development of the Deutz KlangWerkstatt in Berlin. Over the years, many instruments have been inspired by and modeled after it, yet the craftsmanship, resonance and refinement of the original have a character of their own.
Lightweight, beautifully balanced and easy to transport, the Körpertambura can accompany practitioners wherever resonance is needed — from intimate one-to-one sessions to healing circles, meditation and prayer gatherings, retreats, hospices and supportive care environments.

The different versions of the Body Tambura offer subtly different sound and resonance experiences. Small differences in shape, size and tuning can have a surprisingly noticeable effect on how the instrument sounds and feels.

Body Tambura® — Curved Soundboard
In addition to its gently curved underside, this version of the Body Tambura features a convexly curved soundboard. The additional curvature creates a fuller, more spacious sound, while allowing the strings to respond with particular sensitivity and ease.

The Bass Body Tambura is constructed according to the same principles as the curved Body Tambura, but its longer strings and larger resonating body give it a deeper, fuller tone and a particularly powerful vibration.
When placed upon the body, its greater length allows the instrument to extend approximately from the shoulders to the knees, creating an especially immersive experience of sound and vibration.

The rich, overtone-filled resonance of the Tambura meets the freedom of melody.
The Tamburana® brings together two worlds that seem naturally meant for one another: the immersive field of sound and vibration of the Body Tambura, and the playful melodic possibilities of the Kalimba.
Completely intuitive to play, the Tamburana invites you to let go, explore and simply follow the sound. No musical training is needed — only curiosity and the willingness to listen.
Eight melody strings are tuned to a pentatonic scale, allowing melodies to emerge freely and effortlessly. A raised bridge gives these strings a clear, brilliant voice, while the remaining resonance strings create the rich harmonic field beneath them.
The result is an instrument that can move effortlessly between soundscape and melody, stillness and expression, listening and creating.

Tamburana® — Curved Soundboard

Tamburina®
An intimate world of sound and resonance
The Tamburina® is a smaller, beautifully intimate member of the Tambura family. Its more strongly curved playing surface rests upon a particularly slender body, creating an instrument that is light, comfortable and easy to play while resting on your own body.
Its shape, dimensions and weight have been thoughtfully designed so that even while lying down, you can place the Tamburina upon yourself and play it with ease.
As the strings are played, sound and vibration travel directly through the instrument into the body. The experience can be deeply immersive — inviting relaxation, emotional presence and a quiet sense of connection with yourself.
Compact, lightweight and easy to transport, the Tamburina® is a wonderfully personal instrument — equally at home in individual practice, therapeutic settings, meditation, sound work or wherever a more intimate experience of resonance is desired.

The Tamburina® features a more strongly curved playing surface set upon an exceptionally slender body. Its shape, dimensions and light weight are specifically designed so that a person lying down can comfortably play the instrument on their own body.
Its compact size also makes it particularly well suited for children and people using wheelchairs, while its light weight makes it wonderfully easy to carry and use in different settings.

The Curved Monochord® features two playing surfaces and can be placed horizontally on arched wooden feet or positioned vertically as a Sound Column on an elegant walnut base.
The combination of curved resonating surfaces and vertical positioning creates an unusually rich, sustained sound that can carry beautifully even through larger spaces.

Sound Bed
On the gently curved surface, the body is invited to let go — supported by a stable resonating body whose presence is felt not only through its form, but above all through its extraordinary richness of sound.
Its precise tuning and long-lasting tuning stability create a harmonious and deeply felt experience of vibration.
In this meeting of hearing and feeling, a space opens for deep relaxation — an invitation to regeneration, inner balance, and simply being.

Alongside the full-size Sound Bed for adults, we also offer a Sound Bed for children, as well as a Sound Cradle or Sound Bed designed for infants.
By loosening the two outer screws, the resonance body can be rotated around its axis. With the playing surface facing upward, the strings are easily accessible for comfortable tuning.
In this position, the Sound Bed can also be played as an instrument in its own right — for sound journeys, group experiences, or in larger spaces wherever an instrument with exceptional resonance, volume, and a beautifully sustained tone is desired.

Sound Cradle for Infants
Especially suitable for the first four months of life, the Sound Cradle features gently curved rocking feet. Their subtle curvature allows the cradle to rock softly while the instrument is being played.
The rocking sides extend slightly beyond the lying surface, giving the infant a gentle sense of containment and reassuring physical boundaries.
When the instrument is used primarily as a cradle, it can be fitted with softer strings in a higher register, creating a more delicate sound with less intense vibration.

This custom-made transport and storage bag keeps your instrument safely protected. It is padded with foam and includes straps that allow it to be carried as a backpack, as well as practical exterior pockets for your accessories.

Our arched supports offer flexible ways to play the Body Tambura®. The 30 cm supports allow the instrument to stand securely at a comfortable height for playing while seated, while the taller 40 cm supports are ideal for positioning the instrument over a person while playing.
